Half/Double
In many countries being biracial is often referred to as ‘half’, in Japan this has been changed to double. Exploring the duality of my own identity as a biracial Japanese Australian and the cultural aspects of this never-ending oscillation, I’m constantly trying to find some solid ground to stand on. The results of which make it at times difficult for me to situate myself in the world, each side of the coin not allowing me to exist in the balanced space between the two and so I grasp onto the obvious physicality’s of the world around me.
